President Akufo Addo asks Mining Companies to invest heavily in communities in which they operate

President Akufo Addo has made a case for mining companies to invest heavily in communities where they operate. 

He said areas where mining is done are usually some of the poorest in Ghana and do not reflect the kind of investment from such communities.

Speaking at the 12th West Africa Mining and Power Conference, President Akufo Addo said government will ensure strict implementation of the of the Minerals Development Fund Act. 

President Akufo Addo asked large Scale mining companies to respect the mining laws. 

He said government will strengthen the regulatory institutions to fight the degradation of the lands by these companies.
