AMA goes into waste recycling The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) says it is going into waste recycling as a way of dealing with the challenges with disposal of waste in the metropolis. Waste management companies say they are not able to collect waste regularly because they have challenges with the final disposal site. PRO of the A.M.A., Gilbert Nii Ankrah said the Assembly currently does not have any disposal site and only relies on the one at Kpone. According to him, the way forward is to turn to waste recycling. In this regard, the Assembly has distributed more than 300 dust bins to schools in Accra to help in waste segregation. The appropriate waste is thus sent to the Adjen Kotoku plant for recycling. Mr. Ankrah said the Assembly has also embarked on a vigorous desilting exercise ahead of the raining season as a way of preventing the usual flooding in the city. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
