MFWA condemns assault on Adom FM reporter The Media Foundation for West Africa, has described the assault on the Adom FM reporter as unfortunate, regrettable and outrageous. Programme Officer, Freedom of Expression, Muheed Saeed said it is also unfortunate that the NPP Headquarters is gradually gaining fame for some of these regrettable assaults on journalists. Mr. Saeed said it appears the NPP executives are condoning such acts because, previous incidents reported to the NPP National Executive about some of these assaults and alleged threats on journalists at its headquarters, have not been responded to. Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned the attack on a female Journalist by one of its members, Hajia Fati. In a statement issued by the Acting General Secretary, John Boadu, the party wishes to distance itself from the said act and assures Ghanaian Journalists that the party respects and cherishes the role of the media as partners in development and does not condone any act intended to suppress Press Freedom. The statement said no Journalist should feel intimidated and must continue to discharge his or her duties without fear. It concludes that the NPP has already begun an internal enquiry into the alleged incident and will also cooperate with other agencies investigating the issue. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
