I Will Continue to Coach My Son - Paul Dogboe

Father and trainer of Ghana's WBO Super Bantamweight World Champion Isaac Dogboe, Paul Dogbe has revealed that he is not going to quit coaching his son as reported earlier in the media.

He made the revelation on GBC's Sports Programme, "Unique FM's Game show" on Monday. 

This is the first official interview to be granted by Team Dogboe after an impressive show down at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia to clinch the long awaited 9th world title for Ghana. 

Paul however, maintained that it was actually a decision he took due to pressure from critics that he was using his son to make money when as a matter of fact he has invested a lot to bring the boy this far. 

Top Rank boxing promotions run by Bob Arum signed Isaac Dogbe within 24hrs after his victory against former Champion Jessie Magdaleno, a move that is likely to bring him in contact with different trainers and coaches. 

On his grand arrival at the Kotoko International airport a week a ago,  the latest SWAG Sports Personality of the Year virtually held his father to ransom saying " If  my father says he's retiring then I might as well hang my gloves early". This statement threw fans of Team Dogboe into a state of confusion and probably how the country will come to terms with an early retirement from the Champ.

Speaking to his father's contributions to his career, Isaac admitted Paul has been his pillar and inspiration to fight on.
 
He believes he has been nurtured well by his further and is more comfortable with him by his side anytime he steps in the ring. 

"I haven't known any trainer apart from my father, he has gotten me where I am today and I feel that I have accomplished something that hasn't been accomplished in a very long time so if he feels that he wants to quit then I think we both must go together. Coz there's nothing more. That's the highest. Getting a  World Title" he said.

Defeating the likes of Javier Chacon and Ceaser Juarez ahead of his Bantamweight glory, there is no doubt Isaac Dogboe is taking Ghana boxing to a different level.
