Defreeze Opuni's bank accounts- Court orders EOCO A High Court in Accra has ordered the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), to defreeze all bank accounts of the former Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, Dr. Stephen Opuni. EOCO freezed all the assets of Dr. Opuni including his bank accounts due to the impending court issues against him. The accounts, one at the Opeibea House branch of Stanchart Bank in Accra, and the second with Ecobank, were frozen by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) following investigations into Opuni’s administration at COCOBOD. Dr. Opuni and one businessman, Seidu Agongo are currently facing trial at the High Court for alleged malfeasance and willingly causing financial loss to the state. Stephen Opuni’s motion on notice to discharge the freezing of the accounts was filed on April 13, 2018, which was not opposed to by lawyers for EOCO, and was granted by Justice Georgina Mensah-Datsa.
