Labour Court frees GBC's garnished accounts

The Labour Court in Accra has set aside a garnishee order against the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

GBC and one of its clients had agreed by a consent judgement, whereby GBC was to pay the client nine million Ghana Cedis for a breach of contract. However, after paying about 1.5 million Cedis, GBC realized that the consent judgement was procured out of fraudulent misrepresentation, and decided not to pay the remaining amount. 

Not satisfied with the turn of events, the client went to court and secured an order to garnishee the accounts of GBC. 

The Corporation is also in court seeking to set aside the consent judgement.
