Wa Polytechnic lecturers intensify demand for removal of Rector Wa Polytechnic Lecturers yesterday (April 9), chased out their Rector, Professor Emmanuel Marfo-Owusu. Three Unions of the institution have demanded his removal, levelling some allegations against him. Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the President of POTAG Wa Polytechnic branch, Bamir Mubashir, said members blocked the road, preventing the Rector from entering his office. He accused the Rector to have among other issues, purchased a vehicle worth 500 thousand cedis for himself without approval from the Governing Council. Mr. Mubashir spoke to Ibrahim Kwarteng on our news and current affairs programmer ‘Behind the News”. Meanwhile, the Rector, Professor Emmanuel Marfo-Owusu said he has done nothing wrong to deserve the treatment being meted out to him. According to him, under his conditions of service, he is entitled to any car of his choice irrespective of the cost. The Chairman of the Wa Polytechnic Governing Council, Professor Daniel Bagah said a committee has been set to investigate the issue.
