ANC says unaware of alleged plot to oust Ramaphosa

South Africa's Africa National Congress (ANC) party says it is unaware of a plot to undermine President Cyril Ramaphosa in next year's elections.

The story was first reported by the Sunday Times, which said supporters of former President Jacob Zuma were planning to push Mr. Ramaphosa out of office in the upcoming elections. ANC's spokesman Pule Mabe denied that there were any rifts in the party.

The Sunday Times had said that the pro-Zuma group planned to split their votes by supporting the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal province, but voting for another party in the national ballot.

The candidate standing in KwaZulu-Natal province is Sihle Zikalala, a Zuma ally.
