Police administration dismissed 21 personnel last year for various offences

Twenty -one Police Personnel were dismissed last year for various offences. Thirty seven were also reprimanded while thirteen were reduced in ranks. The Director General of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu who disclosed this in Accra said the offences bothered on robbery, delay in investigating, abuse of office among others. 

He said disciplinary measures for the affected personnel form part of efforts to ensure sanity in the system in line with the police transformational agenda. 

ACP Eklu said to address the issue of Intelligence and professional standards, the Service has adopted measures such as the institution of mobile monitoring teams that visits locations and activities of Personnel.  

He said the Police Administration with support from the European Union has also revamped PIPS through training programmes. The Director-General said the conduct of a police officer is key, adding that best practices must be adhere to. 

He said the agenda for the Service this year is to make policing friendlier to deliver quality service through public Education with support from the media. 

The Director General assured the public that the police will not relent in its efforts to uphold professionalism in the service, and cautioned officers who engage in acts of misconduct to desist from that or face the law when caught.
