Ghana Veterinary Service to prosecute butchers using lorry tyres to treat carcesses

The Ghana Veterinary Service says butchers treating carcasses with lorry tyres would be arrested and prosecuted beginning early next year (2018).  

The Head of the Service, Dr. Bashiru Kikimoto said it is important for the butchers to observe sanitation guidelines to ensure that they sell only wholesome meat to consumers. 

Dr. Kikimoto said a nationwide is ongoing to ensure that only safe and wholesome meat is processed and sold to the consumer.  

He asked consumers to buy only meat approved by the Veterinary Service Department.
