President Akufo-Addo renews government’s resolve to end galamsey

President Akufo-Addo says his commitment to get rid of galamsey remains resolute in order to save the environment.

He said Small Scale Mining will continue to be the preserve of Ghanaians. 

Speaking at the inauguration of a Secretariat for the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, President Akufo-Addo charged the Committee to work efficiently and ensure Ghana sets the pace in the preservation of the environment. 

He said the fight against illegal mining has entered a new phase and one thousand, four hundred small scale miners in mining communities would be vetted next year for close monitoring of their activities.
