1,400 small scale miners to be vetted

Government has taken the fight against galamsey a notch higher with the establishment of a secretariat to coordinate activities of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on illegal mining. 

About one thousand, four hundred small scale miners in all mining communities would be vetted next year to monitor their activities and whereabouts. 

President Akufo-Addo who inaugurated the secretariat tasked the minister to make good the facility. 

He said government’s fight against illegal mining has entered a new phase and district committees would be established in first week of January.
