Minority NDC MPs' Request Speaker To Summon Trade Ministry To Parliament 

The Minority in Parliament has requested the Speaker to summon the House for a special sitting to investigate the Trade Ministry’s alleged collection of monies from expatriate businesses. 

This is to enable the House to probe the alleged levy and collection by the Ministry during the recently held Ghana Expatriate Business Awards in Accra. 

The request, which was contained in a memo signed by the Minority Chief Whip and Asawase MP, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak and North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa follows government's clearance of the Trade Ministry of any wrongdoing after Muntaka Mubarak, accused the Ministry of charging unapproved fees to the tune of 100 thousand dollars to grant access to President Akufo-Addo. 

A Deputy Trade Minister had earlier said some monies were taken from expatriates but added that they were later transferred into the account of the awards organizers, Millennium Excellence Foundation.
