One million palm seedlings for distribution to farmers in degraded mining sites 

Government is to employ 17,000 youth to undertake afforestation of mined sites as part of efforts to reclaim galamsey lands. 

To this end, government has engaged Richie Plantation in the Upper Denkyira East District of the Central Region to provide one million Palm seedlings for the exercise. 

Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu Bio, said this when he inspected the Richie Plantation Farm in Dunkwa. 

He said government is adopting a new strategy in the fight against galamsey from next year.
