VEEP Arrives At Kumasi Academy As Health Ministry Appeals To Parents To Return Wards For Vaccination And Monitoring 

The Minister of Health, Kweku Agyeman-Manu has appealed to parents who went for their children at Kumasi Academy over the weekend to bring the students back for vaccination and monitoring. 

He said this is the only way to stop the spread of the influenza Type A H1N1. 

Mr Agyeman-Manu, who said this on the floor of Parliament, said anybody who knows any home that these students have visited should volunteer information for the households to also be captured and given the necessary drugs. 

He said Asokore-Mampong and its immediate communities will also be vaccinated when the Ghana Health Service receives vaccines from W.H.O to combat the spread of the influenza Type A H1N1.

The MP for Asawasi, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, said measures must be taken to restrict movement to the school by the public to stop further spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has arrived at the Kumasi Academy Senior High School. 

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has extended his condolences to the families, teachers and students of Kumasi Academy who have been affected by the H1N1 virus. 

In a statement, the Vice President said his heart particularly goes out to the bereaved families of the four students who have lost their lives.

He also wishes those admitted in hospitals speedy recovery and assures the public of Government's resolve to continue to review and strengthen measures to prevent the spread of the H1N1 flu around the country and keep the schools safe.

The statement expresses gratitude to health care professionals and education staff who have worked tirelessly to contain the virus and prevent further outbreak.
