Medical Researcher cautions public to avoid crowded places to prevent contracting airborne diseases

A Virologist of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Dr. Kofi Bonney has cautioned the public, especially people in crowded places to be wary of air-borne diseases. 

This warning follows reports that the four students who died at KUMACA suffered from an Influenza Type A Virus. 

Speaking on Uniiq Breakfast Drive, Dr. Bonney said the situation may have been caused by a suspected Swine -flu-victim who brought it to the school. 

He however said there is medication to contain the outbreak. 

Meanwhile, the Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Badu Sarkodie says Influenza type A H1N1 Virus which allegedly led to the deaths of the four students of Kumasi Academy is not the same as swine flu. 

He said the Service initially thought it was swine flu, but it turned out to be influenza H1N1 type A of flu. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Dr. Sarkodie said the Service has enough vaccines and medication to manage the situation.
