Policy interventions underway to help improve Railway Sector Government is considering a number of Policy interventions to improve the Railway Sector. These include an independent regulator to ensure compliance and safety in Rails, massive Private Sector participation in the Rail sector and a repeal of the railways Act 779 which makes the Ghana Railways Corporation the sole operator of Railways in the country. These were revealed by the Deputy Minister of Railways Development, Kwaku Agyenim Boateng on GBC's Current Affairs programme "Talking Point", which discussed the state of Ghana`s Railways Sector. Exactly a week ago, some people sustained injuries after a Tema - Accra bound train derailed at the Achimota Rail station in Accra, raising serious safety concerns about Ghana`s Railway Sector. Mr. Agyenim Boateng called on the Private Sector to invest in the rail sector. A Marketing Consultant, Yaw Kyei, said government should move a step ahead by investing in high speed trains.
