KATH: First lady impressed with work on new Mother and Baby Unit

The First lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, has inspected progress of work on the construction of a new Mother and Baby Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi. 

Mrs. Akufo-Addo cut the sod for construction of the facility in May this year. Work on the one-storey project is fast progressing with the physical structure now nearing lintel stage. 

Mrs. Akufo-Addo initiated the project in collaboration with the Multi Media group and subsequently launched a fundraising drive to construct a facility, which when completed will increase the current facility’s capacity by five times. 

The structure is about 70 percent complete and will be completed in November this year, barring any unforeseen circumstances. 

Mrs. Akufo-Addo, was impressed with work done so far and thanked Ghanaians for their contribution towards its construction. 

She appealed to individuals and corporate entities to make more donations towards the completion of the Mother and Baby Unit facility. 

On behalf of the Regional Coordinating Council, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah presented a cheque for 120 thousand Ghana Cedis towards the project.
