Ghana joins global community to mark World Sight Day

The world revolves around children because they are the future leaders of any country. Ghana however is on the verge of losing the sight of these future leaders to blindness, due to an imminent outbreak of myopia epidemic among children. 

This has been attributed to a shift in the lifestyle of the 21st century child.

The Program Manager of the Eye Care Unit at the Ghana Health Service Dr. James Addy who expressed these sentiments, indicated that, it is worrying that 19 million children are visually impaired. 

Dr. Addy was speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana on the occasion of World Sight Day which falls today. 

The day which will be marked in Ejisu in the Ashanti Region is on the theme “Universal Eye Healt”. It seeks to champion the course of avoidable blindness.
