The Daily Graphic and Ghanaian times write on the gas explosion at Atomic Junction in Accra on October 7.

The Daily Graphic expresses its condolences to the bereaved families, while wishing those hospitalised a speedy recovery. It says the greatest compensation for those affected will be the enforcement of laws to prevent such avoidable disasters, adding that efforts to build a better Ghana will be a mirage if government lacks the courage to enforce laws.

The Ghanaian Times appeals to government to find lasting solutions to the phenomenon of gas explosions in the country, which has led to loss of lives and property, in the wake the gas explosion at Atomic Junction in Accra. The paper admits that accidents are bound to happen, but says Ghana cannot accept the negligence exhibited to allow innocent people to die and scores injured in preventable accidents. It says the lip service is enough and urged government to take tough measures to prevent gas explosions in future.

The Daily Heritage discusses the needless politicisation of the educational system in the country. The paper says the nation cannot continue to play politics with the lives of students and expect desirable results. The Heritage thinks Ghana needs a national policy that will be binding on all governments so that the country can have some consistency in policy implementation. The paper therefore calls on stakeholders to adopt a by-partisan approach and craft policies that have inputs of all, irrespective of political affiliation, to end the growing cycle of playing politics with education in the country.
