Nigeria Health authorities caution against eating monkeys Health authorities in Nigeria have warned the public against eating monkeys and bushmeat after 10 people contracted suspected monkey pox in southern Bayelsa State. Health Minister, Isaac Adewole said in a statement that investigation into the outbreak is still ongoing. He noted that there is no known cure for the disease, but there is no cause for alarm because the virus is mild. Mr. Adewole however advised the public to take preventative measures. The Niger Delta University hospital says it has recorded thirteen monkeypox cases, among them are three adults and one child, who had also been quarantined. The hospital says it is working with the Nigerian Center for Disease Control, which has sent a team from the capital, Abuja, to visit the hospital. Meanwhile, forty people are currently been monitored. SOURCE: BBC ---DECRYPTED---
