Police announce procedures to construct, renovate existing facilities for Police Stations The Ghana Police Service has outlined procedures to guide individuals, groups and organisations who wish to support the police by constructing and renovating existing structures for the purpose of police stations. The police in a statement signed by Director-General/Public Affairs, ACP David Eklu, on Wednesday, October 4 said it has noticed the interest by individuals and organisations in supporting the police. “However, it has been observed that most of these structures do not meet the required standards,” the statement said. The statement outlined the following procedures to guide individuals, groups and organisations who wish to do so. [A] Secure a land with all the necessary documentation that the area acquired is earmarked for police station. [B] Individuals or organisations involved should contact the nearest Police District Commander. [C] The District Commander in whose jurisdiction the proposed police station will be built/renovated would liaise with the Divisional/Regional Commander to conduct a security assessment and if found suitable would contact the Projects Unit at the Police Headquarters for the design of a prototype police station to ensure that it meets the standards before construction. [D] The same also goes to the renovation of existing facilities to be used as Police stations across the country. Meanwhile, the Police Administration has commended organisations, individuals who are supporting the police and also making policing accessible to all Ghanaians. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
