Tanzania president John Magufuli discloses his salary on TV

Tanzania’s no-nonsense leader, John Magufuli has revealed that he has a monthly salary of four thousand dollars. 

The figure is about a quarter less the amount his predecessor Jakaya Kikwete got, if figures put out by the Africa Review three years ago are correct.
 
President Magufuli made the revelation live on television yesterday in a speech to the Association of Local Authorities as he emphasised the importance of his anti-corruption drive.
