Planting For Food & Jobs Beneficiaries To Increase- Prez Akufo-Addo Assures

President Nana Akufo-Addo says government intends increasing the number of beneficiaries of Planting for Food and Jobs from the current 180,000 to two-point-five million in four years. 

The move, the president explained is to make available and affordable inputs such as fertilizers, seeds and tractors to farmers who have difficulties in accessing them at the right time. 

He has therefore called on the youth to take advantage of the program and come on board to increase food production and their income levels. 

President Akufo-Addo was speaking at a rally at Tumu on the second day of his visit to the Upper West Region. 

The President started the day's activities with a meeting with religious leaders at Wa. 

He also addressed durbars at Lawra and Nandom. Speaking to a crowd at Tumu President Akufo Addo said his opponents should by now be bowing their heads in shame because they least expected that his government could implement programs that he campaigned on during the last year's electioneering. 

He said government has so far paid 560 million Ghana Cedis out of the one-point-two billion Ghana Cedis debt owed by the National Health Insurance Scheme. 

He said this has started reviving the confidence of health facilities in the scheme.

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hajia Alima Mahama said the President has decided to elevate Sissala East District to a municipality status. 

She the assurance that the proposed one village one dam and one District one factory will soon become a reality. 

Other dignitaries who addressed the gatherings were Minister for Interior Ambrose Dery, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba and Deputy Minister of Roads and Highway Anthony Karbo. 

The President is expected to leave for Upper East Region Today.
