Police launch investigations into highway robbery on Chinderi road Reports reaching Radio Ghana say a Metro Mass bus load of passengers traveling from Chinderi in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Volta Region has been attacked by armed robbers. According to GBC’s Micah Tulevo, the robbers made away with huge sums of money and mobile phones belonging to travellers. He reports that the robbery according ASP Kwabena Nkrumah who is the divisional Commander of Krachi Police Station, happened around 4:30am Tuesday morning when the Metro Mass loaded from Chinderi headed to Accra. “But along the line before it got to the next town called Borae, the armed robbers blocked the road with logs so there was nowhere for the bus to pass, hence they had to stop and the robbers pounced on them and took various sums of money from travellers including their mobile phones,” he added. According to him, the robbers didn’t harm anybody. The travellers got scared and surrendered hence were not harmed. However, according to some eye witnesses, the robbers were all holding AK47 rifles. He reports that armed robbery on that stretch of the road occur very rare. According to the Divisional Commander, the police went to the scene but before they got there, the robbers fled into the bush and couldn’t effect any arrest.
