AU Deploys Observer Team To Liberia Ahead Of October 10 Election

The African Union (AU) is to deploy its short-term election observation mission in Liberia today. 
 
The pan-African bloc had earlier deployed long-term observers in the country for the presidential and legislative elections scheduled for October,10. 

The mission, which comprises 50 short-term observers, will complement the long-term observers who have been deployed to Liberia since September 1.

A statement from the AU said the short term observers will specifically observe the conduct of Election Day operations and immediate post-election developments, including the results management process.
