Minerals Commission asked to intensify monitoring of mining sites

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu has tasked the technical teams of the Minerals Commission and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to do weekly monitoring of all mining sites in the country . 

This is to ensure they conform to rules and regulations in the sector.

He said supervision is key to ensuring those in the sector do responsible mining.

Mr Amewu said this during a tour of some mining sites in the Western Region.
 
He said government will not relax the rules to the detriment of the environment.
