Lands Minister orders C&G Aleksa Mining Company to suspend work

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu has directed Canada & Ghana, C & G Aleksa Mining Company in the Diaso District of the Central Region to suspend all forms of mining activities until further notice. 

Mr. Amewu said the company does not possess the annual operating license hence the suspension. 

The Lands and Natural Resources Minister gave the directive during an unannounced visit to the site. 

Meanwhile, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu says the six month ban on small scale mining will be extended. 

He said the extension has become necessary because not much has been achieved in terms of the objective of the ban. 

Mr Amewu said he will seek cabinet's approval for the extension, saying he is optimistic it will come into force by next week.
