Financial analysts support calls for extension of Ghana's IMF credit facility 

Financial Analysts are calling for the extension of the IMF credit facility to Ghana to allow for structural reforms, assessing Ghana's performance in the IMF programme three years on.

A Senior Lecturer of the University of Ghana Business School, Prof. Godfred Bokpin said the program failed to uphold its core mandate, which is debt sustainability, although there was improvement in its first year.

He told GBC`s George Asekere on Radio Ghana's Current Affairs Program,"Behind the news" that ideally Ghana does not need the IMF.

Meanwhile, a Former Deputy Minister of Finance,  Mrs Mona Quartey says she supports calls for the extension of the IMF deal with Ghana. 

She said Ghanaians must be fiscally disciplined to reduce budget deficit that governments have been faced with.
