Eastern Region organizes blood donation exercise A blood donation exercise has been organized in the Eastern Region as part of activities to mark the Republic Day celebrations. The exercise which is an initiative of the National Health Insurance Authority was anticipated to produce about 50 pints of blood for the St Joseph Hospital. The Acting Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Frank Addo, noted that the blood donation exercise which is held on every 1st July across the country is to furnish hospitals to meet the blood demands of their patients. A Medical Laboratory Scientist at the St. Joseph Hospital, Madam Selina Quashie, debunked the notion that donating blood makes a man impotent or could even lead to death and called on the public to make it a point to donate blood after every three months. She explained that constant donation of blood is a good exercise for the body as the Red Blood Cells continuously produce more blood to replenish the body. GBCONLINE
