Superintendent Cephas Arthur describes recent incidents as unfortunate

The Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, has described the shooting of the police officer at Kintampo as very unfortunate.

The deceased officer who was performing his duty as a transport escort was mistaken for an armed robber and gunned down by police officials.  

Explaining to Radio Ghana the circumstances that led to the untimely death of the officer, Superintendent Cephas Arthur said the unfortunate incident is being investigated although preliminary reports indicate that the emergency response team opened fire on the officer in the midst of addressing a robbery.

Commenting on the Mayhem in Somanya which has led to the destruction of property, Superintendent Cephas Arthur condemned the action by the irate youth of the area.
 
He said the Assembly man and 13 others who led the action have been arrested stressing that they will face the full rigours of the law.

He urged the youth to desist from resorting to violence to get their issues addressed.

Superintendent Cephas Arthur also condemned the lynching of the army officer at Diaso in the Central Region. 

He said the public has no moral right to punish an individual for an offence even if the person is guilty.
