GAF Begins Investigations Into Capt. Mahama's Death A high-powered fact-finding team from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) led by the Chief of the Army Staff is proceeding to Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region to ascertain the facts leading to the death of Captain M.A. Mahama of 5 Battalion of Infantry. A statement issued and signed by GAF's Director Public Relations, Colonel, E Aggrey-Quashie confirmed the death of Capt. Mahama of 5 Battalion of Infantry. According the statement, “Initial report indicates the officer was lynched by locals of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region whilst he was jogging at about 08.30 am on Monday 29 May 2017, under circumstances yet to be verified. The statement said the officer was the detachment commander of the troops on operational duties in that area. It further said the GAF is working closely with the police and other security agencies to unravel the full facts of the case. The statement however, urges troops there to remain calm whilst action is being taken to bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book. gbconline
