Avatime Chief Calls On Tourism Ministry To Develop Potentials In The Area

The Paramount Chief of Avatime Traditional Area, Osie Adja Tekpor VII is reiterating his appeal to the Ministry of Tourism and other relevant agencies to as a matter of urgency and priority consider the proposal of developing the tourism potentials of Avatime to boost socio-economic activities in the area and to serve as a viable source of foreign exchange for the country.
 
He said Amedzofe, one of the communities of Avatime is the highest human settlement in Ghana and its Gemi Mountain, the second highest in the country as well as other features such as the chilly weather, water falls, ancient caves and attractive hilly landscapes that are speckled across all Avatime communities have positioned the area as one of the best distinctive tourist destinations.
 
Osie Adja Tekor was speaking in Accra at a get-together with representatives of development associations of various Avatime towns to brainstorm on strategies that could promote development of the area.

The meeting brought together high ranking personalities serving in academia, public service, civil society, private consultancy, the clergy and traditional authorities to dis cuss strategies of rebranding the Avatime Community and promoting it as a reputable area of business attraction.

A Co-Convener of the meeting and former Chairman of Pharmacy Council of Ghana, Harrison Abutiate disclosed that one of the key objectives of the meeting was to institute a vibrant central development association and sub-committees with representatives from all Avatime communities to formulate and facilitate implementation of strategies to promote development of the area and enhance socio-economic livelihood of the citizenry.
       
Mr. Abutiate, who is also a Marketing Executive and Chief Executive of Officer of Paracelsus Pharmacy and Marketing Company Limited appealed to the government to consider Avatime area in the implementation of the “one district one factory” program.

Addressing the gathering, the Paramount Chief of Avatime Traditional Area, Osie Adja Tekpor the Seventh, urged citizens of Avatime to rally behind the development association and pool resources together to promote community integration and development of the area.

He said Avatime is endowed with rich natural resources that could be exploited to promote tourism in the area.
