GII survey shows most corrupt institutions in Tamale Metropolis 

Residents of the Tamale Metropolis say the military is incorruptible. Of all the people who reported that they had contact with the military, non-paid a bribe or facilitation fees. 

This is in sharp contrast to the police service, where ninety seven percent of residents who had contact with the service, reportedly paid bribes.

These revelations are contained in a survey conducted by the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) Consortium in the Tamale Metropolis.

SEND-Ghana, which is a member of the consortium, organised a stakeholder meeting in Tamale to disseminate the findings. 

The report ranks the police number one on the corruption perception index.

The survey which was conducted in 2016 also identified the DVLA and the Judicial Service among the most corrupt institutions in the Tamale Metropolis.

The stakeholders suggested the introduction of spot fines for road traffic offences to curb corruption within the police service.
