N/R: Teacher absenteeism results in abysmal performance in BECE Teacher absenteeism has adversely affected performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Northern Region (N/R). Performance in the region has been falling in the last ten years. This was revealed at a forum organised by youth groups in Tamale today (May 25) The forum aimed at identifying the causes of the falling standards of education with the view to finding solutions to them. The project officer for Youth Empowerment for Life, Clement Boateng, said, the youth groups will meet policy makers to present the findings and help shape policies to enhance performance.
