James Bond Actor Sir Roger Moore dies at 89

James Bond star Sir Roger Moore has died aged 89, his family have said in a statement.

They said the movie star had lost a “short but brave battle against cancer”.

“It is with a heavy heart that we must announce our loving father, Sir Roger Moore, has passed away today in Switzerland,” the statement read.

“We know our own love and admiration will be magnified many times over, across the world, by people who knew him for his films, television shows and his passionate work for UNICEF, which he considered to be his greatest achievement.”

His 12 years playing James Bond – the British agent hungry for danger and gorgeous women – made Moore a millionaire as well as a heartthrob the world over.
