Ghana Remembers 127 Victims Of May 9 Stadium Disaster

Today marks the 16th Anniversary of the May 9 disaster that claimed the lives of 127 football fans at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra. 

The fans were there to watch a match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Meanwhile, two memorial services have been held in Accra and Kumasi to remember and offer prayers for the 127 victims of the May 9 disaster. 

The Accra event was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports while Organiser of the May 9 events, Herbert Mensah, graced the Kumasi event which was held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. 

In both services, prayers were offered for the departed souls. Our Correspondent Justice Ametepe, participated in the Accra event.
