Stay Away From Firefighting Scenes – GNFS Warns 

The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Prince Billy Anaglate, has cautioned the public to stay away from fire outbreaks when fire fighters are on the ground working. 

He said it is dangerous for the public to hang around fire situations in the name of providing assistance to the fire service. 

Prince Billy Anaglate was speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, on the gas explosion at Sekondi Takoradi where reports indicate that, the public around the area were warned to keep away from the scene of the fire but they did not heed  to the warning. 

Mr. Anaglate said the casualties involving the residents could have been avoided if they had stayed away.

More than 70 people including personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service are receiving medical attention in the Western Regional town of Sekondi after a gas explosion this morning. 

Some residents as well as fire personnel who were at the scene to douse the inferno sustained varying degrees of injuries following the multiple explosion. 

The injured were rushed to the Effia Nkwanta Hospital in Sekondi for treatment, while some residents have been evacuated from the area.
