The Daily Graphic believes Ghanaians have not learnt lessons from the June 3 disaster that took the lives of many people due to a downpour. According to the paper, necessary structures to deal with the situation in Accra and other flood prone areas in Ghana are absent. The Graphic says it is not too late to put in place emergency measures to forestall flooding as the rains have already started. June 3 is less than a month away and the Graphic hopes the country will see no more of such disasters this year. 

The Ghanaian Times is alarmed by President Akufo-Addo's assertion that Ghana is the 7th filthiest nation in the world and second in Africa after Sudan as contained in the 2015 World Bank Report. It says this current position is rather shameful and uncomplimentary. The paper says if Ghanaians do not change their attitude towards sanitation, Ghana stands the risk of not achieving some of the SDG goals. The Times says even though government, MMDAS and some civil society groups have through several interventions attempted to address the sanitation problems and provide potable water, they need to step up their game and crack the whip on lawlessness towards sanitation in the country. 

The Daily Heritage congratulates FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi on his appointment as first Vice president of the Confederation of African Football CAF. Mr Nyantakyi, the first Ghanaian to hold such high position in football also holds a position in the executive committee of FIFA. The paper salutes him for lifting high the flag of Ghana in world football and calls on Ghanaians to support him in his new position for him to deliver especially in his home country. 

The Today Newspaper calls on the Fisheries Ministry to focus on the Chinese intrusion in Ghana's waters and check all the malpractices that are going on to the disadvantage of Ghanaian fishermen. The call comes against the backdrop of recent reports of Chinese involvement in illegal light fishing in Ghana's waters. The paper says the disregard for fishing laws and the opportunist approach to the Fisheries Act is creating a power shift in the industry and empowering illegalities in the very glare of Public Officials.
