CSIR raises concerns about toxicity of Ghana’s water bodies due to illegal mining

The Water Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is worried about toxic metals found in water bodies due to ‘galamsey’.

These include lead, mercury, cyanide and arsenic substances. 

The Director of the Institute, Dr Osmund Ansa-Asare at a media forum on the state of the country`s water bodies, said the impact of such metals on human health can be fatal.
