Court remands alleged Tamale- Fumbisi bus robber


An Accra circuit Court has remanded into police custody one Boli Bukari for alleged robbery.

He was alleged to have robbed with four others who are at large, passengers on board Benz bus on the Tamale-Fumbisi road of their valuable items. 

The items are phones, and cash of about 30 thousand cedis. 

The complainants are all the passengers. The accused Boli Bukari is a herdsman at Uwasi in the Upper East region. 

On the 28th of April last year at about 1:40 pm driver Shaibu Garifu in charge a passenger Benz bus from Tamale to  Tumbisi and on reaching Jaadema a village near Fumbisi in Builsa South District, five Fulani Mole speaking men, four of whom were wearing face-mask and two of them were armed with rifles, emerged from a nearby bush amidst  firing and signalled the driver to stop which he complied. 

One climbed on top of  the bus and the three went into the bus to search each passengers and rob them of their valuables at gun point. 

They then ordered the driver to drive way.

Information reached the police upon which a team of policemen rushed to the scene but only met the victims. 

The police traced the robbers to a nearby village at Jaadem where the accused was arrested. 

He was identified as one who was not wearing the face mask.
