Government Increases Monthly Allowances For Paramount Chiefs By 100%

Monthly Allowances for Paramount Chiefs have been increased by 100 per cent. Hither to, the chiefs had been receiving GHC 500 monthly from government to run their communities. 

The Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Kofi Dzamesi, noted that the amount was inadequate. It has thus been increased to GHC1,000. 

According to him, government also has plans to give other chiefs and queen mothers some allowances. 

Mr. Dzamesi said this when the first lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo met with some chiefs and queen mothers from the Central Region.
