8th March, 2017 The Daily Graphic calls on Ghanaians to raise their voices against environmental degradation which is having dire consequences on the nation. The paper makes reference to President Akufo-Addo's 60 years on address at the Black Stars Square last Monday where he bemoaned the state of Ghana's environment. The Graphic says it is not happy about this negative trend saying if it continues unchecked, the nation and its inhabitants will be the ultimate losers. It concludes that, after 60 years of independence, the challenge before the nation is to get its act together and put in place workable and sustainable structures to fight against environmental degradation and pollution of water bodies. The Ghanaian Times says one major problem facing the country today is job creation. That is why the paper gives thumbs up to the 2017 budget for highlighting the one district one factory which aims at creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth. It says the project must be implemented to the fullest so that value can be added to identifiable natural resources found in each district. The Times says the time has come for the country to move forward and nothing must prevent the nation from encouraging job and wealth creation. The Daily Heritage lauds the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba for intervening and ordering a probe into the inhumane treatment meted out to a Ghanaian worker by a Lebanese supervisor at the Abelenkpe branch of Marwako Fast Food Limited. The Paper, however, commends the Lebanese, Jihad Chaaban, for being bold and admitting his fault. The Heritage, nevertheless urges the security agencies to let the law take its course to serve as a deterrent to foreign nationals who take pride in molesting Ghanaian workers. GBC
