4th March, 2017 The Daily Graphi: appeals to the government to ensure that it goes strictly by the measures outlined in the budget to put the ailing economy back on track. The paper says, major targets proposed in budgets by past governments have not often been met because they fail to control expenditure. The paper maintains that projects should be channeled through the right means to enable institutions that can execute them put in their bid. The paper is therefore optimistic that, targeting the informal sector to pay taxes will be a source of generating revenue to fund for projects without going for loans from international sources. The Ghanaian Times welcomes the assurance given by the Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr Mahamadu Bawumia that the country is committed to sound relations with the United States. It says often tension between countries due to misunderstandings or diplomatic standoffs create problems but in the case of Ghana and the US, both are in agreement to work together to serve their interests. The paper says the two countries respect each other because of their mutual commitment to rule of law, good governance and democracy. It urges the two countries to work towards improving social, economic and political ties to enhance the welfare of the people as well as strengthen peace and security matters for the common benefit.
