Election experts arrive in Accra to assess Ghana's preparedness for 2016 election A delegation of election experts from North America and Africa has arrived in the country to assess Ghana’s preparations towards the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections. The delegation will meet with the Electoral Commission, presidential candidates, political party leaders, civil society representatives and other key actors in the electoral process. The team will on Friday, October 21 present its findings to Journalists in Accra. This is a follow up on a first pre-election assessment mission from the National Democratic Institute, NDI and the International Republican Institute, IRI in August. The National Democratic Institute is a non-profit and nonpartisan organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. Over the past 25 years, NDI has conducted more than 150 election observation missions in 62 countries. NDI has also worked closely with Ghanaian civic and political organisations since 1992 to support the development of the country's democratic institutions and promote transparency and integrity of the electoral process through advanced techniques in election monitoring.
