Fighting in South Sudan "prolongs" suffering-UN Ongoing fighting in South Sudan is prolonging the suffering of people there according to the UN. The UN mission in country, UNMISS, reported explosions in Unity state on Sunday which led to 67 civilians seeking protection at a UN compound. Fighting between government and opposition forces has been continuing for almost three years. "The UN Mission remains extremely concerned by the fighting between the SPLA and the opposition, which continues to prolong the suffering of the population. It calls on both sides to respect the ceasefire agreed to by the parties in July and reiterates the need to fully implement the peace agreement." SOURCE: UN Radio
