AGI question utility billing system The Association of Ghana Industries, AGI, has held a forum with the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Water Company (GWCL) to explain the utility tariff billing system to members of the Association. According to the AGI, industries are paying up to six times the 59.2% recently increased electricity tariffs. The AGI said though the ten percent energy sector levy was not included in the PURC's upward review of tariffs, the impact of the levy is being felt by industry. This new trend, the AGI said, is having serious effect on industries with the manufacturing sector being the hardest hit. President of the Association, Seth Twum Akwaboah, disagrees with the assertion that the current power stability is the reason for the high tariffs especially on industry. GBC
