Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings questions viability of 40-year development plan

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Party, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings says the forty year development plan of the National Development Planning Commission is unrealistic and cannot stand the test of time. 

She said no where in the world has the government developed a forty year development plan because circumstances change, situations change and plans also change so it is needless to develop a plan for that length of time. 

Speaking on our Current Affairs programme Behind the News, the former first lady said government must develop realistic policies for the country.

Reacting to Nana Konadu's comments, the Chief Executive of the National Development Commission, Dr Nii Moi Thompson said the forty year development plan is only a guide to achieving development. 

In an interview with Radio Ghana, Dr Nii Moi Thompson said the plan is subject to review every ten years and therefore subject to change.
