NPP Counsel accuses Afoko of ‘frustrating’ disciplinary proceedings

Counsel for the NPP, Godfred Odame Yeboah has accused the party's suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko of deliberately frustrating the disciplinary proceedings against him. 

During cross-examination of Mr Afoko at the Human Rights Court, where he has sued the NPP, Mr Odame Yeboah said under the party's constitution, members of the Disciplinary Committee should at least include two women. 

However, Mr Afoko deliberately submitted a list with only one female to the National Council in an attempt to render the committee unconstitutional. 

Mr Afoko denied the claim and explained that the selection of members was with prior approval of the National Council. 

Mr Afoko is challenging the inclusion of an MP, Mrs Gifty Kusi on the Disciplinary Committee which suspended him over claims that her appointment did not follow due process. 

He argued that Mrs Kusi's inclusion was a hastened decision to form a quorum to suspend him. 

Mr Afoko also contended that as the then chairman, he was denied his mandate to swear in Madam Kusi.
