‘I Am In To Fill A Gap In Ghana's Politics’ - Nana Konadu

The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Party, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, says her desire to lead Ghana is to restore probity and accountability to the country's body politic. 

She said she is ready to correct the inadequacies in the system. 

Speaking on GBC’s current affairs programme, ‘Behind the News,’ Nana Konadu said it is her desire to change for the better the quality of lives of Ghanaians hence the decision to run for political office. 

The Former First Lady said an NDP government will work to put the country's economy on a sound footing. 

She said currently the economy is seriously sick and needs a physician to heal it. 

Furthermore empowering the people to fully participate in the body politic is essential. 

This she believes can be done through the decentralisation process which unfortunately is not working. 

The NDP flagbearer said she has toured all the ten regions encouraging the electorate to make the right decision by voting for the right person and not to sell their vote. 

She said every government has been adding up to the country's infrastructure development but what her husband former President Rawlings did in his tenure far outweigh what successive governments have done. 

A Political Marketing specialist at the University of Ghana Business School, Dr Kobby Mensah says Nana Konadu is a marketable candidate. 

He said though the NDP is an emerging party, Nana Konadu's long standing in the political landscape can help the NDP in the November polls.
